The first in a family of power amplifiers for WiFi infrastructure and multimedia applications, the
AWL5905 from Anadigics provides 29 dB of gain and is optimized for 5-GHz WLAN standards,
including 802.11a/n/ac. The device has an integrated
power detector that facilitates accurate power control
over varying load conditions (3:1 VSWR), while a digital
power-amp-enable interface eliminates the need for an
external buffer amplifier.
Housed in a 4×4×0.8-mm QFN package, the AWL5905
offers RF ports that are internally matched to 50 Ω and
DC-blocked to reduce PCB space requirements.
According to the manufacturer, the AWL5905 enables
manufacturers to develop MIMO solutions that consume
less power and are more thermally efficient. The
amplifier is designed to maximize data throughput and
ensure reliable transmission of high-definition video at extended ranges. It can be used in access
points, routers, media gateways, set-top boxes, and smart TVs.
